OUR STORY
The vision has always been to have a wellness center. Prior to COVID, we began the planning. The importance of creating a space that would be community-oriented and welcoming to anyone with the desire to make a difference—not only in their own lives but in the world was number one. With that, we made the decision to become B Corp certified—an organization dedicated to transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet.
Then COVID hit—like a global tsunami.
Fast forward to several years later, we began moving forward again, searching for the right space to start. Eventually we found a small location that felt like the perfect spot. We made a few adjustments to get things rolling in the right direction. The fitness component would be launched first, with yoga and wellness services to follow.
We wanted a name that represented the heart of what we were trying to accomplish- healing on a levels in the hearts and minds of others. One day, the name SOZO was brought up- we had no idea what it meant- but when we looked up the meaning, it felt perfect. SOZO is a Greek word meaning “salvation,” and in various places in the New Testament, it’s used to mean to save, heal, make whole, or deliver.
A dear friend of mine, who is a media designer, helped bring the brand to life. After a few months of back-and-forth on design, colors, and overall look, it was complete—and we were thrilled with how beautifully it turned out. SOZO was born.
